Gmail server error
Gmail service is great, but it is gradually becoming too much of pain lately. Right now, its returning this:
Server ErrorGmail is temporarily unavailable. Cross your fingers and try again in a few minutes. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.
Cross our fingers??? is that what it boils down to? crossing fingers and make a wish, just to read our mail..???
Can you beleive that google would be that much careless about our mail?
This dreadful error page used to be very rare, but the frequency is growing…
Its too scarey, when you depend on such service, to find that you can not access your mail whenever you want to. You now never know if the server is up tomorrow..! Not much reliable? thats not what we expect from a company like google. Gmail service is fine, but I advise everyone to backup their mail ofline, using your favorite mail client (mozzila thunderbird, for example).
Thats why it’s in BETA.
Comment by David — August 7, 2005 @ 7:27 pm
Indeed it is in ‘BETA’, but when people start to rely on your service, it isn’t wise to have it down for ~15 hours. When clearly the error message states: “Check back in a few minutes”, instead, they’ve had it down for many hours. Possibly, instead of a falsified promise of ‘a few minutes’, how about displaying a legitimate error page.
Comment by Mark — August 20, 2005 @ 1:44 am
We are approaching at least 24 hours now that its been down this time. Is it just me?
Comment by Glenn — August 20, 2005 @ 2:19 pm
A friend said she can get into hers fine. Mine, no. We are on different servers apparently, and i am unlucky at the moment. Anyone else have any updates?
Comment by Glenn — August 20, 2005 @ 2:49 pm
I didn’t experience any down times lately
Comment by Administrator — August 20, 2005 @ 3:21 pm
Still down…tried multiple computers and browsers. Last time i checked my mail was thursday afternoon.
Comment by abuwan — August 20, 2005 @ 4:47 pm
I’ve had the same problem with Gmail for the last 24 hours. It’s a damn kick in the teeth that Gmail doesn’t make any kind of an update available to the folks who rely on their service. At a bare minimum, they should be posting information on the mail Gmail page explaining the situation and giving an approximate time by which the service will be back up and running. Hell, do it on the main Google page if none of the Gmail pages are functional. But do something.
Comment by John — August 20, 2005 @ 4:55 pm
Seems like some banning or what.
i was unable to loging for last 20 hours, now i clean the cache and cookies and woa i get login page that i was not able to get earlier.
so i put my user name and password and i get kicked out. same error
server error blah blah blah. strangely i asked foe other people to check from their system and they all seems to be accesing it just fine, even just few min back. dunno what’s up with them but it surely there should be a clear message than cross your finger, i have better things to do that cross my fingers, it just that what i need to do is in the email that they not letting me access.
Comment by Amit — August 20, 2005 @ 5:32 pm
two things….at least i am not alone, unfortunately for all of us….and it is going to be rather difficult to do my performance tonight with my fingers crossed.
At least we have somewhere to vent if they arent going to tell us when they think we may be able to check our mail again.
I lost a mailbox once. the company with the server folded and one day…nothing. i dont like this feeling. is web mail really worth it?
Comment by abuwan — August 20, 2005 @ 6:49 pm
A lot of people are turning to web mail, since broadband, coupled with a service like gmail, made it easier than mail clients. But to be on the safe side, everyone should backup their gmail accounts locally, using their free pop service, and a local mail client, like thunderbird or even outlook express. They would sure come in handy at times like this.
Comment by Administrator — August 20, 2005 @ 7:40 pm
I am encountering the same error message -
“cross your fingers” — and have been since Friday, August 19, 2005 5pm. My two other gmail accounts work just fine; unfortunately, the most important gmail account is on the server that went down, and also contains the entire breadth of my PH.D. research information. I wish I had been wiser to back up locally on a computer or on a hard disk but I didn’t know this problem would last for over a day!
Comment by Ellen Huang — August 20, 2005 @ 11:59 pm
You could also set your gmail account to forward all your mail automatically to another account, as a backup. You’ll have 2 copies of all your mail then, in case one server went down.
Comment by Administrator — August 21, 2005 @ 12:28 am
Hi there,
it seems that this problem is already quite global. has anybody an idea when (and if) GMail can fix the problem?
I really would need some files from my gmail account - unfortunately I have saved some information just there.
I guess right now we just can wait …

Hey everyone!
As the most of you I am really pissed off with google because of the last 3 days gmail awfull service!
Since friday morning I can’t get into my gmail account and I was expecting there a lot of very important and urgent work e-mails for the weekend.
I also know people with gmail accouns here, that are functioning normally, without any kind of trouble.
By the way, I am from Portugal so, as you can see, this bad situation is global…
I know it must be difficult for a business company to have so much servers that can “keep” all the millions of e-mail accounts with up to 2Gb, but please…. with their money I think this is a situation that shouldn’t happen for a company with that status….
Does anyone know if they have any e-mail for where we can write asking them explanations and arguing about all of this?
If you know pease answer me for my hotmail account popmarta100@hotmail.com
This is a very tiny e-mail acconut, with only 2Mb as you know, but they NEVER left me without their e-mail service. Hotmail ALLWAYS worked very well for me.
Big kiss to everyone.
Comment by popmarta — August 21, 2005 @ 7:34 pm
The problem seems to be global, but only on one server or something…
I can’t access my account, but some other people I know can.
I hope Google will fix this soon, cause there are mails in there, that can’t wait to long…
I’m from The Netherlands by the way…
Regards,
René

Comment by abuwan — August 22, 2005 @ 2:13 am
I have been down since Friday as well. There are also numerous threads of people on google groups complaining about the same issue. I wonder if e-mails sent from our contacts during down period will be lost?
Comment by Beth — August 22, 2005 @ 3:20 am
Yeah, me too. I’ve been trying for several days. Still no go. I’m in Australia, but I suspect it doesn’t matter where you log in from, it’s just a “server” down.
Hope it comes back up soon
Comment by Adam — August 22, 2005 @ 5:38 am
Yeah, i’ve not been able to access my gmail from Friday.
That’s a long down time, 4 days now. I’ve tried diffrent browsers, even different PCs on different connections. I’m pretty sure its a problem their end.
I hope they know about it, because it shouldn’t take a company of google’s resources 4 days to fix!
Comment by David — August 22, 2005 @ 7:45 am
Hello ppl .. I am one of those “swear by google” guys , but i might rethink my stand now. I havent been able to access gmail since Friday. This sucks and I didnt expect such irresposible service from Google atleast. Anyways, all I can do is wait and when I get in the first thing i’ll do is backup my mail!
The worst thing about this outage is that there is no support email you can send an email to … if anyone is aware of an email address we can write to, please publish that here.

Doesnt do much after 30 seconds either!

I was getting the same “Server Error” message since Friday morning. I can FINALLY access my email today (4 days later)! I was completely annoyed and frustrated this past weekend, and I’m still trying to decide if I should keep my gmail or move my email to a more dependable and responsive place.
Comment by Colleen — August 22, 2005 @ 4:44 pm
Im very pissed at google right now, ive been trying to get in since friday morning, this is nonsense. Its been 5 days for me now and this is bordering on insanity. I have atleast 7 emails that I need to get to in there. I wrote to gmail-support@google.com and got an automated response. Nothing has changed as yet. My worst fear is losing my data … have no idea what i’ll do if that happens

So glad to have some company - misery loves it. I also have been out of Gmail since last Friday but this morning, in desperation, I logged on to my ISP with my daughter’s laptop and “Presto” - I’m in! Still can’t get through with my desktop (running ME!?!?) but I’ve set up Gmail to redirect all to my other email accounts and I hope for an improvement in the near future. Any tips would be of great help.

This is complete crap. I’ve been down since yesterday. I have a friend that works at Google and he doesn’t know what’s going on. I’m glad that I use Outlook to check my e-mail but I have important e-mails that I need to get to and this damn service is not letting me in! I am relieved though that I’m not the only one going through this. So i know I just didn’t lose my account or anything.

I’m staying in Germany at the moment and my gmail has been down since Friday 19th of August, no ******* idea what’s going on there, but it sucks big time!! I got all my mails sitting there for numerous things.
How can you change servers?
Comment by Tero — August 23, 2005 @ 4:17 pm
Very dissapointed in Google over this. Why is there no acknowledgment of the problem?
I’m moving away from gmail because of this problem. No-one wants to go without their primary email for 5 days without any sort of ‘we are sorting it out’ response.

Wow…sorry to hear about your frustrations and as for myself…my server errors has begun TODAY (8/25/05) My gmail has been down for over 6 hours and by reading most of these posts, im expecting a long delay for myself as well… i tried calling google and they told me to email them at gmail-support@google.com. then they you will get an automated reply. You need to reply back to them a second time and tell them the issue hasnt been resolved. A live person should now handle the case. I replied back…now im crossing my fingers to see if they arent full of shite and will get back to me ASAP. I hope the issue will be resolved. I need to access my email urgently.
Comment by Jeff — August 25, 2005 @ 5:09 pm
Update…after my 2nd reply to gmail support, the issue was miraculously RESOLVED!!! Coincidence???? Hmmmmmm.

My turn as well, never had problems around the 20th but now can’t get in and my business relies on gmail so I’m pretty pissed. I will be sending multiple e-mails to support.
Comment by Josh — August 30, 2005 @ 10:31 pm
And make me number 3, mine has been down for over 6 hours now and I have already sent multiple emails to support… and I have 3 email accounts that are forwarded to gmail so every contact I have in through gmail. Now what?
Comment by Mer — August 30, 2005 @ 10:42 pm
mine works now. Maybe luck, I don’t know, but I wish yours works soon. Keep on sending to support. Make sure you reply to the automated message.
And if it actually works with this replying automated messages, I’ve got to say this is pretty ridiculous.
I do hope this is not a frequent thing. I wonder if anybody has had this problem more than once.
in the meantime, good luck!

Has everyone here taken stupid pills? Basically if you are relying on a BETA service for mission critical stuff then you have problems. If you are a company using Gmail then you’re really nuts. Do you think ANY company is using longhorn permanently? Absolutely not.
Also, if your a business on Gmail, how do you think it looks to your clients if your using a free web based email service?
Get a Domain or a time and tested email like Hotmail (I dislike ms as well). Then when Google releases a final of Gmail then go crazy.
I still love Gmail even with the downtimes

Gmail is back down again. Can anybody tell me when it will be back up? HOw do I email service? This is the third long down time in a short time. Is Google going to make this better?
Comment by Frank H — September 7, 2005 @ 4:32 pm
hello everyone
here is what I have discovered about this gmail problem that says to try again later instead of logging in.
This has happened to my wife and I a few times on different occasions. A few minutes ago we were able to log onto 2 of 3 gmail accounts on either of our 2 computers. Now they all work after trying clearing caches rebooting etc.
The problem I think is this, if you have more than one gmail session on one account open and send mail on one of the windows you will get locked out. Once I even got an error message saying I was locked out because of the sent email as a security measure. Before you say you aren’t logged in on multiple windows consider this. Gmail doesn’t seem to time out ever. When my wife finally got into her email account it actually took her directly in without the login screen just by going to gmail.com even after rebooting several times. Also you can browse other sites from your gmail window then “back” and your email is still open and active. I emailed gmail support with this flaw but no response.
Some suggestions that help with this problem.
1. try clearing your cookies and cache. works sometimes
2. change your computer’s ip address also works sometimes but not always that easy.
3. do NOT use the remember me on this computer feature on gmail
4. always log out of gmail when you decide to change sites from your gmail screen otherwise gmail is open in the background.
In summary the inability to log in to gmail, is not a server busy problem, it is an undocumented gmail security feature triggered by having more than one gmail window unknowingly open and sending email. That’s my opinion for all it’s worth.
cdnart@gmail.com
Comment by Cdnart — September 7, 2005 @ 7:36 pm
It is the best email client, totally free, give you massive amounts of free storage space and it is BETA! Really… stop complaining. Or go and use one of the other (shitty) webmail services. Or run your own mail server. Or better yet… pay someone to host your email. Then you can complain to them all you like. But take a step back and look at what they are giving you for free before you complain.
Anyway.. Gmail is just simply the best. I’m sure they will sort out this issue soon.

A BIG FINDING…
WHENEVER GMAIL IS DOWN YOU CAN STILL ACCESS YOUR EMAIL BY SIGNING UP TO THE GOOGLE PERSONALISED HOME PAGE, THEN ADDING THE GMAIL SECTION, AND CLICKING A LINK IN THERE FOR AN EMAIL.
I thought that mght be really handy for some people!!!

i live and work around the corner from Google’s headquarters - me and my homies can give them “motivation” if that’s what it comes down to… *clenches fists* - eh?
and if this post is going to get me in trouble, just email my google account - i’ll be sure to get it. *crosses fingers*
Comment by slantazoid — September 26, 2005 @ 6:31 pm
Well, I’ve been having this server down the last 3 days too. I tried uploading a 10MB zip file and not sure if that caused a problem. Halfway through I aborted it and then on, could not login.
Like most other people. I’ve been relying on gmail as well. Now, I can’t even setup POP on it to retrieve messages. I have some of my work mails landing up there as well.
Has anybody received a reply if they log a technical issue with gmail? We can’t keep trying now and then to see if its up! Its really frustrating :(.

hi all
well it was my turn to see the white screen of death today. I’m a film composer (hollywood) living in the uk. I rely on gmail for my file sending and recieving and it is so annoying not to have access. I’m loosing time and money here.
You’d think that in this day and age where e-mail is the number one method for long distance communication, they’d have a reliable system installed from day one.
I hope they fix it soon!

GAAAAAAH for the first time in over a year my gmail is down too. 502 server error for 3 hours now, and I need it for work.
What’s this “google personalised page” business, then? How do I sign up for it, and will it get me back in?
Comment by Bert Preast — October 14, 2005 @ 10:07 am
to personalize your google page, go to: http://www.google.com/ig
here is how to set it up to display your gmail inbox:
1- go to: http://www.google.com/ig
2- click the ‘Sign In’ link (unless you’re already signed in)
3- at the top left corner, click ‘Add Content’
4- next to the word ‘Gmail’, click the ‘Add’ button.
You should now see the 5 latest emails listed. If you click at ‘inbox’ you will be taken directly to your gmail account, without having to sign in there. Wierdy1024 above said it works even when the usual login to your gmail is giving the server error. Try it, and if it really worked, let us know..

I guess you’re a moron. gmail is still in beta because its feature set is still fluid. That doesn’ t make it “normal” to run a service incompetently. With properly redundant failover system, one should NEVER see “server error”.

I am getting errors about 90% of the time. This is bullshit. Google is a multibillion dollar company that has thrived on being unconvential, that is, more reliable and much faster than other services. Every email I receive goes through gmail first and I can’t afford to “cross my fingers” and wait. A company like Google should never have server errors– can you imagine if their search engine had server failures?! With all the information run through Google on a daily basis you’d think they’d have parallel systems for a simple email program. Incredible.
Comment by Lauren — June 21, 2006 @ 5:59 pm
http://www.google.com/ig
That’s hot.
But it seems like a bit of a conspiracy– forcing people to see more Google content just to get to their email?! I hear executives saying “hmm… maybe our users will click on more ads this way.” Umm… no thanks. Anyone have any suggestions about a better and less dictatorial free email program that works as nicely as gmail used to?
Comment by Lauren — June 21, 2006 @ 6:03 pm
I have another theory. Maybe the servers are down because they are selling our email records to the government. Just a thought. And if anyone remembers what happened with the phone companies (which no one seems to, really convenient to catch Zarqawi last week, ey?) it’s not entirely unlikely.

My gmail has been down a good part of the day. While I was getting error code 766 and “cross your fingers” errors I sent some test messages from my other email accounts. Now that gmail is back up and running, those messages have not come through, and it has been more than an hour! Are they lost in the great beyond?

Hi,
How to get back onto gmail!
For ‘Server error’ try deleting the cookies (from i.e. Tools/Internet Options) then you can get into Gmail fine.

fot the first ime my gmail has gone down … gosh! I depend on it too much. Its been like this for some time now. I wonder if it will ever be up again.
Incase any of you is wondering, adding gmail to your personalized homepage does not work. It still keeps giving the error about the temporary unavailability.
This indicates that this must be a problem with the exact server that would be holding my account information or something like that. I hope the google people have been backing up my mail as i sure as heck havent.
What they could give me at this time is the ability to send or recieve any new messages or forward my new mail to an alternate email.
Comment by talha — December 14, 2006 @ 4:56 am
Here is an interesting thing that happened.
I was getting the server error through out the morning at home.
When I came to the office, I raised my PC from hibernation. I saw my gmail inbox already signed in. Now, I can access my email in my office. Whether I can sign in again once I have logged out is something I am not ver willing to try at the moment.

Comment by Vanessa — January 14, 2007 @ 9:43 pm
After having gmail down with a “server error” for 2 days, I found success by simply contacting gmail tech support (note: you have to respond to the first email with more detail, then I got a ‘we fixed it’ email in less than a day.) My take on this is that it is just a really really low standard of server maintenance, i.e. when 1 or more servers are down, it doesn’t affect everybody but it affects everybody whose data resides on that server until they get around to fixing it. Having worked on Hotmail and MSN for MS, we kept 1000+ servers up and running (and we were but 1 of a number of companies that ran parts of those sites). Occasionally, we had a server down, we knew about it in very short order, and it was a critical emergency until it was up and running; and we had to explain it at a morning meeting at Microsoft! From this blog, it looks like Google has no such standards. AND, the fact that they aren’t up front with this ongoing problem (i.e. “check back in a few minutes” doesn’t cut it) is pathetic.
So everyone who’s reading this, open a second email account if you don’t have one since you obviously can’t have gmail tech support respond to you gmail account and contact tech support. Good luck!

Comment by Kent — February 1, 2007 @ 12:36 pm
I have had just about enough of these “server failures”. I have been a loyal Gmail user since Sept of 2005 and service is getting worse & worse. Now lately, EVERY day at noon and 4-5PM, I am unable to send or recieve messages or even access my address book.
Ya, I have mail.yahoo as back-up, but all my accounts are connected to my gmail addy…..SOAKS!!!
I suspect that the chat program bundled with gmail has alot to do with these jam ups. I could give a flying flaming rats patootie about chat and want it removed but gmail support remains hidden to me. (URL please?….anybody?)
My guess is, If I am able to shutdown the chat side from trying to connect that my mail will work a little faster. (yes?….No?)
Comment by BenListening — February 10, 2007 @ 12:25 am
I fingered it out. Switch to “Basic HTML” at the bottom of the page stops the chat from loading & connecting.
Well see if that puts a giddy-up in load times during peak hours.
Comment by BenListening — February 10, 2007 @ 9:09 am
Okay, I guess it’s nice there’s a forum for venting. I USED to love Gmail. A friend recommended it to me and it has indeed become my #1 web email compared to my old yahoo and hotmail accounts. But if this kinda sh*t happens, even once in a while, it f*cks everything up. What’s the point of even having this service unless it’s going to work all the time.
At least Yahoo and Hotmail have their s*it together.. I think I will not rely on this piece of cr*p anymore. How would the Google employees feel if they couldn’t access their email anymore. F*ck it!

I have been having trouble with GMail for a long time since today afternoon, and it has been over 8 hours since I have been waiting for “a few minutes”.
This lack of response from the so called Internet Giant is pathetic, for it does go in with the quality and class of business practices and technological eminence they propound to espouse.
Even when Google.com Search has problems with the search or the Quality of search, we do not notice because it is not as dear to us as out Primary Email Account on Gmail. The Google Search is not free of it’s share of troubles, but we are free from worrying much about it.
If we file a Class Action Litigation Suit against google, we all should a few million dollars, each!

Poor HotMail.com had only 2-4MB earlier and we re-buffed it, laughed at it, when Gmail came in with 1GB. We even mocked Bill Gates for having only a 2 inch dick.
But we all forgot to see how dependable old HotMail was. And in time, hotmail grew to give over 1GB of storage space in itself. Something are like Wine, they get better with time, and somethings are like cars, they feel better with time, and some things are like women, if they look gorgeous, they will attract you for a while and then ditch you in a ditch. Only a lady who is time-tested will stand by you no matter what. Only a wine that has withstood the time will taste what it is. Only a car well driven, will drive well when you want it. And it seems that Hotmail.com is doing all that, that too with the old affection of a mother!
Gmail is still NOT working !!!!

A service being BETA does NOT mean that it must be made un-reliable.
In fact, how many will make a statement of something being a “beta” if it had been by Procter&Gamble of GlaxoSmithKline trying out a new medicine for Cancer prevention or cure?
The point is that something’s being “Beta”, “Trial” or “Testing phase” does not in itself make it free to be prone to technical errors which are easily avoidable with a little extra-care and attention. And a good Customer Service Dept. too.

I just found this forum after 16 hours of not being able to log into my gmail account. Like others, I first assumed that this was a general problem until I got to work, asked around, and realized that I’m the only one who does not have access. I’m in NY and my other accounts are working just fine. I’m e-mailed Google and just received this message:
Hello,

find a solution. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have

=============================================
Hello Everyone!
My Gmail was down for over 24 hours!
=============================================
BUT I FOUND A WAY TO CRACK INTO MY INBOX!!!!
I DISCOVERED IT BY CHANCE!
=============================================
=============================================
I AM SO RELIEVED THAT IT IS WORKING NOW ( GMail is my PRIMARY PERSONAL EMail ID).
If you have any previous BookMarked Gmail Inbox link with all the lengthy meaningless codes appended to it at the end, then try opening Gmail using that link.
It seems that GMail Authentication server cannot re-direct properly to the Mail Data Server, which may be the real cause for our not being able to access our Inboxes.
But when, instead, we, ourselves, provide that re-direction link, the Data Center is able to retrieve and generate and give us the Inbox page. It appears to be problem of improper re-direction to Data Location by the Authentication Server. And this has to be the precise reason for our being able to access all our other Google Personalized features, but not GMail, because Google is able to redirect to the correct location for those data in the data banks.
=============================================
NOTE :
1. Gmail is NOT working when I Log-in normally from the GMail homepage.
2. It works only by opening previously bookmarked links to GMail.
3. Step 2 is possible only after singing-in to google, and getting Google cookies enabled.

AHHHHH! My mail was down the other day for 10 hours and now my gmail is down again! Someone even told me that they are getting bounce backs from my gmail! This is crazy!
Comment by Joseph — March 21, 2007 @ 11:42 am
I haven’t been able to access even the Gmail login page for 5 days now.
I just went onto the pc 5 days ago and was greeted by the white error page.
I am based in the UK, my ISP is ORANGE.
My sister’s ISP is BT/YAHOO, yet she can access Gmail with no problem whatsoever.
I can access my Gmail via my mobile phone (but this is an expensive & pointless way of doing it).
Perhaps if further postings start to list their ISP’s, we might be able to see some pattern forming here.
I have made mutiple attempts to contact Google - All met with looped answerphone messages that get me nowhere, and emails that are responded to (if i’m lucky) with pre-formatted answers that aren’t helpful.
Another thing that I have noticed is that when i use google to do a net-search, the first page of results consists of a handful of irrelevent results (usually containing the words you searched for, and directing you to sites to buy stuff) and the rest are labelled along the lines “similar results, cached”. Only when I goto the next page do the search results start to make sense….
I am seriously disappointed by not only Googles performance, but moreso by the lack of information & help. These guys are f*cktards! I was “bigging-up” how good Google was to other people & convincing them to get accounts - What a big mistake that was…..

Comment by Joe — March 28, 2007 @ 12:46 am
Mine was down with Server Error for about 6 hours today, and i was just able to log in. I dont know if it had anything to do with the fact that I emailed support, but I am definately going to have a backup copies of incoming mail forwarded to my hotmail account now. This was the first time this has happened. It was helpful knowing you could view using the html version, http://mail.google.com/mail/h but I dont know if it was just because my acct started workingn again or what.
Comment by Susan — March 28, 2007 @ 1:09 am
Server Error for my account too…. 5 Hours of downtime.
Never happened with that account.
Comment by Oliveira — March 28, 2007 @ 1:27 am
My email account has been down since yesterday. What suggestions do you all have to get it to come back. This seems like an extended amount of time.
Comment by Matt — March 28, 2007 @ 4:57 pm
By the way, I can’t login to the standard or HTML versions of Gmail. Additionally, I do not show up on Google Talk anymore on other people’s lists while everyone I my list is “offline” (even though they really aren’t).
On the bright side, Google Reader and Calendar are still working.
I wonder how much longer this will not be working? I’m still hopeful they can fix this, but the longer it takes the more worried I become. (It has been down for 20 hrs +).
Comment by Matt — March 28, 2007 @ 5:14 pm
I’ve never once had an error like that and I’ve had Gmail since it first came out as an invite only. O_o

Anyway, I tried to register withgmail and it kept telling me that my user name & password didn’t match! I don’t know what to do now? Anybody have any suggestions???
Comment by Christine — August 4, 2007 @ 7:29 pm
For three days I have not been able to get in on or read my messages. All I get is to try a little later. Aren’t three days enough? My messages are important. If I had dreamed this would happen I would not have referred anyone to Gmail.
Give me a time when I can get in or forget it all.
Comment by Betty — September 16, 2007 @ 6:32 pm
What’s really bad is that I write a long email message and then get a server error when I try to send it. Then, when I try to save it as a draft, I get the same server error. Shouldn’t the drafts be located somewhere other than the same server that handles the incoming and outgoing mail?

Gmail has been refusing to send any attachment for the last week or so. In addition, in the last two days, I have been unable to view my Inbox or sent items. When is this going to be sorted out? I have imporant applications to make!
Comment by Lilly — January 15, 2008 @ 9:32 pm
I have been unable to access my mail acount for several days, perhaps a week? It is strange because my shortcut does not work, and I try to go around, like as if you were at a Library, by going to http://www.google.com and then to Mail, still nothing? My Mail notifier is still working, which just makes it more frustrating, because I know I have 20 message, that I can’t read them?
Does anyone have a tech-support number for them? Does one exist?

Google poses as if it is the best email to have around; in a way, it is but it is very poor in these aspects:
1. frequent and long shutdowns
2. spam!… too many spams
3. folder organisation is poor; cannot shift some mails to a separate folder

The great excuse for shit services. I’m tired of beta products that just plain old suck! Google is big enough and has enough money to make sure nothing is ever in beta but of course any googalite always used beta as the excuse. Have you ever tried contacting google for support on paid services? Good luck with that! Off to yahoo and hotmail I go….enough of this google hype already…..

What the hell kind of email service provider doesn’t even make an effort to inform their users that the server is down. I need to check emails to know what texts my professors want me to purchase, Kind of hard to IMAGINE what they want me to get. I’m definitely backing up my emails from now on.

Server Error again!
WTF! I am waiting for an important email!
“Server Error
The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request.
Please try again in 30 seconds.”
Comment by Wiaan — February 24, 2009 @ 11:56 am
I get the same everytime that I try. Have been trying now for 5 hours!
I REALLY hope that they don’t have a problem like in 2005 where the server company went belly up and lost all accounts! I have ALL my emails in there on purpose so that if my computer strikes on me that I have my “back-up” online!! I thought that THAT was the idea of it all. To be online so that it can be acessed from anywhere and anytime! What’s up with the server?
Please let us know why we have access to some google programs and some not. I totally rely on gmail!!!

I have been having the same issue since about Friday… when I accessed it today, I still could not get a complete connection. There could possibly be a problem with their scripting, because, when I view as basic HTML, it works just fine. Maybe this is simply my own problem with Firefox, but it seemed to work for the time being. As far as any lost mail, I am not certain.

I have been the last two days without my gmail. I try to sign in with my password, and I get an error message that the browsers cookiefunctionary is turned off. Have turned it off, turned it on and off again, but always with the same crappy message. Nothing works to get my mail, and I am frustrated because nothing works, and no a damn human at your end cares, or their is no way whatsoever to get a human contact for help. The hell with the whole damn system, I believe I will access yahoo mail instead of this continuous repeat crap. Everything worked fine, and then the gmail dissappears, and I am stuck in a sign in loop that just repeats over and over. HELP>
